I believe everybody deserves a greater advantage.

I am the CEO and CKO (Chief Knowledge Officer) of Greater Advantage, a socially conscious coaching practice. Socially conscious entrepreneurs are committed to addressing the challenges within their communities and creating meaningful change. Before launching my own business, I built a career in executive coaching and organizational development, working with some of the largest corporations in America. One of my most rewarding projects was leading a corporate change initiative for 50,000 employees, where I managed 50 adjunct trainers, a five-member full-time team members, and a multimillion-dollar budget. Our work earned the North American Operations Award for outstanding cultural change as employees took personal responsibility for their career satisfaction. Witnessing the impact of equipping all employees with high-quality training and coaching reinforced my passion for making professional growth more accessible. I believe everyone deserves a greater advantage.

Building Greater: My Coaching Foundations

My work and the development of the G.R.E.A.T.E.R. methodology are grounded in empirical research and a passion for lifelong learning. I hold a bachelor’s degree in employee relations with a multidisciplinary focus on psychology and sociology from Michigan State University. Currently, I am completing my master’s in counseling at Spring Arbor University. My coaching methodology integrates cognitive, behavioral, and emotive tools, drawing from research on the Psychology of Coaching: The Impact of Coaching on Metacognition, Mental Health, and Goal Attainment by Dr. Anthony Grant. My approach is further enriched by my certifications in executive coaching, strategic visioning, group dynamics, and instructional design from General Motors University, which I incorporate into my process to help clients clarify their vision, develop strategic thinking, and navigate complex challenges with confidence. Additionally, my Diversity, Inclusion, and Engagement certification from Cornell University informs my inclusive coaching approach, fostering a space where clients feel supported and experience psychological safety.

A Holistic, Results-Driven Approach

My coaching style incorporates inspiration, motivation, and transformation to empower lasting success. Many of my clients incorporate faith into the coaching process, finding it essential for clarity and renewed strength. My coaching process has successfully supported C-suite executives, mid-level managers, team members and individuals in breaking through barriers, blind spots, and burnout to attain and sustain meaningful goals. It was also piloted with inner-city vocational and high school students, demonstrating its effectiveness in the development of essential life skills and workplace competencies.

Leveraging Technology for Greater Impact

I use technology to expand my reach and impact. My multimedia projects include: Greater App – a 24/7 chat coaching platform; Work & Life Harmony Podcast; Hope Goes Live – a web series launched during the pandemic; The Kim Bettie Radio Show – produced during the recession Research & Revelations Blog; Mental Health Micro-Masterclasses on preventing burnout; The 14-Day Experiment and Diversity Intelligence is the New Emotional Intelligence (e-books).

Personal Life

Originally from Detroit, I now call Los Angeles home. When I’m not working, I love spending time with my daughter and two dogs, researching my ancestry, and reflecting on the resilience of my great-great-grandfather whose journey from enslavement to success embodies the principles of post-traumatic growth that influence my coaching and research.

My style of coaching is like a retreat and safe space to think, feel and take action. As a coach, I am your sounding board and a mirror to your thoughts, actions, feelings and environment. This feedback loop breaks self-sabotage and sets you up for success. Research has proven that coaching increases your chances of applying what you learn from a training class or reading a book from 22% to 88% (Gerald Olivero, Denise Bane & Richard Kopelman, Public Personnel Management). When you apply coaching, you take action on your new knowledge and learn from both successes and setbacks. This action learning cycle gives you a greater advantage for sustaining success.
