Meet Coach Kim “KB” Bettie
“I believe everybody deserves a greater advantage.”
I am the CEO and CKO (Chief Knowledge Officer) of Greater Advantage, a socially conscious coaching practice. Socially conscious entrepreneurs are committed to addressing challenges within their communities and creating meaningful change, an approach that defines my work. Before launching my own business, I built a career in executive coaching and organizational development, working with some of the largest corporations in America. My most rewarding project was leading a corporate change initiative for 50,000 employees, where I managed 50 adjunct trainers, a five-member full-time team, and a multimillion-dollar budget. Our work earned the North American Operations Award for outstanding cultural change, as employees began taking personal responsibility for their career success satisfaction. Witnessing the impact of equipping all employees, not just executives, with training and coaching reinforced my passion for making high-quality professional growth accessible to all. I believe everybody deserves a greater advantage.
Building Greater: My Coaching Foundations
My work—and the development of the Greater methodology—is grounded in empirical research and a passion for lifelong learning. I hold a bachelor’s degree in employee relations with a multidisciplinary focus on psychology and sociology from Michigan State University and am currently completing my master’s in counseling at Spring Arbor University. My coaching methodology integrates cognitive, behavioral, and emotive tools, drawing from research such as The Psychology of Coaching: The Impact of Coaching on Metacognition, Mental Health, and Goal Attainment by Dr. Anthony Grant. I incorporate certifications from General Motors University—including executive coaching, strategic visioning, group dynamics, and instructional design—into my process to help clients clarify their vision, develop strategic thinking, and navigate complex challenges with confidence. Additionally, my Diversity, Inclusion, and Engagement certification from Cornell University shapes my inclusive coaching approach, fostering a space where clients feel supported, respected, and psychologically safe.
A Holistic, Results-Driven Approach
My coaching style weaves together inspiration, motivation, and transformation to empower lasting change. Many of my clients choose to integrate faith and spiritual practices into the process, finding it essential for renewed strength and clarity. The Greater coaching process has supported C-suite executives, mid-level managers, team members, and individuals in moving beyond barriers, blind spots, and burnout to achieve and sustain meaningful goals. Clients especially value having a sounding board to process thoughts, feelings, and deeper insights—gaining clarity that turns their toughest challenges into lasting success.

Personal Life
Originally from Detroit, I now call Los Angeles home. When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my daughter and two dogs. I’m also passionate about researching post-traumatic growth, particularly through the lens of my great-great-grandfather’s journey from enslavement to success. His story continues to inspire my work and writing, which I share in my Research & Revelations Blog.
“Coaching is like a retreat and space to think, feel and take action.”
My style of coaching is like a retreat and safe space to think, feel and take action. As a coach, I am your sounding board and a mirror to your thoughts, actions, feelings and environment. This feedback loop breaks self-sabotage and sets you up for success. Research has proven that coaching increases your chances of applying what you learn from a training class or reading a book from 22% to 88% (Gerald Olivero, Denise Bane & Richard Kopelman, Public Personnel Management). When you apply coaching, you take action on your new knowledge and learn from both successes and setbacks. This action learning cycle gives you a greater advantage for sustaining success.
