Proven process to combat the internal and external forces of change
In May 2019, the World Health Organization (WHO) announced the 11th revision of its International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems and a much more detailed entry on burnout. Previously defined only as a “state of vital exhaustion,” it’s now classified as a “syndrome conceptualized as resulting from chronic workplace stress that has not been successfully managed.” The WHO described burnout as a sense of exhaustion or depletion, negativity or cynicism and decreased effectiveness at work.
While a little stress can inspire us to leap tall buildings in a single bound, once you are under stress for too long it can turn unproductive. When you’re suffering from burnout, it’s more than fatigue: you have a deep sense of disillusionment and hopelessness that your efforts are useless; work and life loses its meaning, and even the small of tasks feel laborious; your motivation dries up and you lose interest in your favorite activities with family and friends.
There are steps you can take to win the battle over burnout, you can: learn to spot red flags and root causes; get educated on systematic triggers; set strategic goals that focus on prevention and protection of boundaries.Take a look at the explainer video from a recent webinar on the Battle Over Burnout.
